Machame Lutheran Hospital is a rural Mission Hospital of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania Northern Diocese. The Hospital was started by the Lutheran Missionaries from Germany at the end of the 18th century. Today it has an inpatient capacity of 120 beds and outpatient & MCH services cater to approximately 150 patients daily. The Hospital is involved in training of clinical officers. The center accommodates a total of 150 students in the 3 years course.
The hospital has 4 doctors, 2 clinical officers, 44 nurses and 46 other staff members.
